Ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon Matcha powder

1 cup hot water (70-82°C, 160-180°F)

1/2 cup plant-based milk (almond, oat, soy, etc.)

1/4 teaspoon dried lavender flowers (culinary grade)

Optional:

1 teaspoon honey, maple syrup, or sugar-free sweetener to taste

Fresh lavender sprig for garnish

Instructions:

Steep the lavender: In a small saucepan, heat the plant-based milk with the dried lavender flowers over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not boil. Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 10 minutes.

Sift and whisk the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or mug to prevent clumps. Gradually add hot water to the matcha powder, whisking vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a regular whisk until smooth and frothy. Aim for a light foam, not stiff peaks.

Warm the milk: Strain the steeped milk into a small saucepan or microwave-safe container. Warm gently until just heated, not boiling.

Combine and sweeten: Pour the warmed lavender milk into the matcha mixture and whisk gently to combine. Sweeten to taste with your chosen sweetener, if desired.

Enjoy! Garnish with a fresh lavender sprig for a beautiful touch (optional).

Additional notes:

Adjust the amount of dried lavender to your preference. Start with 1/4 teaspoon and add more to taste.

If you don’t have dried lavender, you can use a few drops of culinary lavender extract instead.

For a vegan option, use plant-based milk and omit the honey or maple syrup.

For a sugar-free latte, use a sugar-free sweetener like stevia or monk fruit extract.

Warm the milk to around 150°F (65°C) for the best latte texture.
